Kohima, October 14 (MExN): Congress has decided to contest the municipal election from all the 19 wards under Kohima Municipal Council and 9 wards under Tseminyu Town Committee. The decision was made during a joint meeting of Kohima District PCC members and Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) Vice Presidents on October 14.
All the Vice Presidents, who are also in-charge of the constituencies, submitted their reports, a press release informed, adding they were really encouraging.
Khriedi Theüno, PCC member briefed on the legal procedure of the elections. Medokul Sophie, PCC member urged the party workers to keep their focus positive and take the party forward. Meanwhile, Seyiekuolie, PCC member asked the party workers to meet and interact with people regularly and make known the programme and policies of the Congress party stating such exercise will ultimately bring positive result in the municipal as well as the general elections. He also challenged the party workers to work hard for the welfare of the people, stated the release issued by KDCC president, Kevi Vizo and general secretary (admin), Abalie Medoze.
As directed by NPCC, the house also decided to set up Urban Local Body Committee for the district at the earliest.
The house further deliberated on the NPF led DAN government “for its complete mis-governance, putting on hold all the state developmental work, poor road condition where our road look like more of river bed.” It pointed out that such is the present condition under NPF led DAN government that citizens are compelled to take up road repairing and other works, “which shows the present government is not bothered about its citizens rather they are busy pocketing for their own welfare.”
In light of this, the Kohima District Congress Committee appealed to the citizens to “judiciously use their precious vote to vote for the Congress which promises and is committed for the welfare of the people in the coming municipal election.”
