Cong leaders take battle to New Delhi

Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): The Nagaland Congress  has cancelled its Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) executives’ election which, earlier, was rescheduled for today. It is learned that the election has been cancelled until further notice, as communicated by the Congress Bhawan. Incumbent NPCC President I Imkong this evening told The Morung Express that he would be leaving for Delhi Tuesday to discuss the matter further. Senior Congress leaders KL Chishi, Chingwang Konyak, Hewoto Awomi, former NPCC president Hokheto Sema and several party office   bearers will accompany him, Imkong informed.
Also, it is  learned that aspiring candidate for the post of NPCC president, SI Jamir and several frontal chiefs are already camping in Delhi. Imkong informed that party leaders would be meeting Congress President Sonia Gandhi during their stay in Delhi.  The NPCC executive election was cancelled on September 17 after polling turned violent.  Some miscreants, reportedly Congress  supporters, pelted stones and damaged ballot boxes. The party has suspended four workers following the incident.
