The proposed meeting of the Joint Legislators’ Forum (JLF) with recognised political parties of the state scheduled on Tuesday at Police Complex Chumukedima, could not be held as none of the political parties except the ruling Naga People’s Front (NPF) turned up for the meeting.

Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, and Convenor of JLF, Kiyanilie Peseyie, in a press communiqué issued to media informed that the scheduled meeting could not be held as all political parties except the NPF and DAN legislators and a lone Congress MLA Chingwang Konyak  turned up for the meeting.

“Today’s meeting was scheduled with all political parties as it was the request of the Congress to call a meeting of all political parties and also in view of the Congress request for some more time in order to obtain permission of the party’s high command to pass resolutions proposed by JLF on 10th December, 2012,” the communiqué stated.

The JLF Convenor also said that “none of the political parties, including the Congress, who had proposed this meeting after boycotting the scheduled meeting of the JLF on 13th December, 2012, had sent any official communication on their failure to attend today’s meeting.”
