Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly I. Imkong today criticized present incumbent Neiphiu Rio as ‘the most confused Chief Minister of Nagaland’ and further questioned as to how a confused leader can lead the people. The NPF led DAN government who promised to solve the Naga political issue in three months has failed to find a solution even after more than 3 years of running the government, said Imkong while addressing party workers during the political training organized by the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress at Dimapur.

Pointing to the law and order situation in the State, Imkong said that the NPF-led DAN government has failed in ‘every field.’ Alhough the government’s duty is to provide security to the people, the DAN government could not do anything to protect the people, alleged Imkong. Taking into consideration the recent spate of killing, Imkong further questioned, “Is killing in the name of political problem acceptable to the people?”

On the development front, Imkong while claiming that all the present works and projects was initiated by the Congress during its reign has challenged the NPF-led DAN government if they have initiated and started any new developmental schemes and projects in the state. “What happened to the thousand of crores given by the central government? How has it been utilized? Is it the way developmental funds are being utilized?” questioned Imkong. The DAN government is blaming the Congress for not receiving fund from the central government but on the other hand, Congress has been asking the central government to provide more funds to the State government for development, Imkong told party workers.

Ayangba Aonok, Vice President PCC Nagaland in his address said that the next assembly polls “will be an issue-based election” to which Imkong said that “the Congress should wipe out the Bharatya Janata Party (BJP).” The Indian National Congress has been working for the Naga political issue to find a permanent and acceptable solution, which is acceptable to all. The Congress follows a consistent principle unaffected by leadership change, said Imkong. “We love the Naga people”.

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) also while questioning the ‘mistake’ committed by Congress in the Naga political issue has made its stand clear on the issue by saying that the Congress is not against or for any underground faction.

“The Congress,” Hokheto Sumi, President PCC, Nagaland said “don’t have any commitment on any faction” but he added ‘the Congress stand for every Naga.’ He further said that the solution that the Nagas have been seeking for the past 60 years would not come until the Nagas unite as the solution lies within the Nagas.

Hokheto, criticizing the DAN government’s policy of affiliating educational institutions of the four hill districts of Manipur to NBSE said, no government could interfere in the matter of another state pointing out that this would underestimate the effected state. If there is any common interest, Hokheto added, the government with the understanding of the state concerned could take up the issue.
