Dimapur, June 16 (MExN): ‘Participating in concerts and dance in traditional dresses’ and then “return to the kitchen empty-handed is not empowerment,” the Congress says. The Congress is convinced that the DAN government has failed in all fronts including in law and order and development.
Congress MLA KV Pusa ridiculing the ‘year of youth’ and ‘year of farmers’ of the DAN government, pointed out that “participating in concerts, festivals, dances in traditional dresses and then return to the kitchen empty-handed is not empowerment.” He was addressing a session of the Kohima District Congress Committee in Kohima on June12.
The MLA also maintained that the law and order situation in the state is worse “than year of farmers.” He buttressed his point by stating that tax collection and extortion have increased by leaps and bounds during the regime of the DAN government. He said the Congress party is a party of the common people ‘with its policies benefiting all from “top to bottom.”’ KV Pusa also cited AICC chief Sonia Gandhi’s statement that ‘her thoughts were with the north east especially with Nagaland.’
Pusa also added that the “issue of 22 MLAs” was still alive ‘as the Governor has yet to give his decision on the matter yet.’
Also addressing the meeting, general secretary of KDCC Sevotso Seyie said the NPF was running the government “like in cinema with only a handful hoarding everything and made even many of their MLAs…playing jokers.” Only about “10%” of the people “who hoarded everything” are praising the DAN government, he asserted. It was also maintained that the NPF party had also ‘dragged in’ the “national workers” into state politics and “degraded them to the level of supporters of state political parties.”
For former Congress minister Nillo Rengma, the Congress is coming back to power all thanks to the party being a discipline party. Expressing confidence of returning to power, Rengma said “Congress party is a disciplined political party which gives priority to the party-worker so don’t be disheartened; the final is very near; don’t lose it…”
