Congress organise meeting in Chizami

Phek, February 2 (MExN): The Congress of 17th Chizami Assembly Constituency held a meeting on January 27 at Chizami Town Hall.

Chiekropa Tunyi, District Congress Committee (DCC) vice-president in his address told the party members a time has come to re-elect new leaders. In this, he urged party men and women to stand firm and united as before “without losing hope as our party can also come up with dynamic leaders,” according to a press release from Khrote Therie, general secretary, 17th Chizami ACC.

NPCC vice president, V. Lasuh meanwhile said Naga society is in a very confused state. Recalling his forty years of experience in the political field, he stated he gave his best in order to build up not only the party, area or district but also worked for the whole Nagas.

Maintaining that it is time to ponder upon where “we” are heading, he encouraged the rank and file of Congress to stand strong and not give up. Over the past forty years, Lasuh stated, he never came across a situation like the present political situation because “the elected members have been fooling around with the Naga people which was never witnessed previously.”

He further maintained that Congress party stands for secularism, freedom of speech and expression and freedom of religion and urged Nagas “not to be diluted because of greed for power, money and opportunism.”

Lasuh also exuded confidence that the time for the Congress party to prosper is coming and therefore encouraged the gathering to have a very strong determination and belief based on the scripture passage Isaiah 60:15-22.

He was also confident at the “dynamic leadership” of NPCC president K Therie, who he said will make the Congress party stand tall, witness progress and bring changes for his far-sighted vision for the Nagas.
