Noted anti-corruption activist, K.K. Sema IAS (retd) and another Independent candidate, Kuminlun Tungulung has joined the Indian National Congress to contest from 5 Ghaspani – II AC and 3 Dimapur – III AC respectively.

The duo was welcomed to the party at Chekiye, Dimapur on Tuesday by NPCC President, K. Therie and party workers.

Addressing the gathering, Therie said that the party was happy at K.K. Sema joining the party and described him as a person with clear ideologies of corrupt free Nagaland. “He has a clear vision about secular principles besides democratic and socialism,” he added. Therie said that the need of the hour was for the people to come together and choose whether to vote for secularism or communalism and Christ or Hinduism.

He said the Congress was “shocked by the rush” of intending candidates towards BJP adding, “as a Christian state we have never expected that candidates would be rushing towards saffronization. Except Congress, all parties are coloured with saffron and so Congress is the only alternative.” Therie was optimistic of “unseen votes and unseen blessing” in favour of Congress during this election and said “We believe in Christ and so without any fear we are going to the polls,” he added.

K.K. Sema said the successive state government had set up a corruptive system where legality was no more an issue. He said it was “time for the younger generation to wake up, see the reality, have the courage to stand up and say enough is enough and move towards a better position”

Kuminlun who also spoke briefly thanked the Congress for giving opportunity to the minority groups and appealed the people to vote consciously.
