Menukhol John, Principal Secretary for School Education & SCERT today stated that consistency is of utmost importance in a student’s academic life.

Speaking as the guest speaker during a felicitation programme for degree toppers today organized by the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) at Kohima, John identified that “consistency is often found wanting in our society.”

While observing that a few among the valedictorians were also toppers in their matriculation exams, the Principal Secretary noted that the consistency they have maintained in their academic career is of foremost importance.

Reminding the nature of the changing times, he said that a vast difference has come about compared to the kind of marks scored during their days to those of now. "The difference that has come about has grown," he added.

With this he said that the world is fast changing, opportunities are plenty and there is no such thing as artificial or administrative boundaries anymore to come in the way of striving towards a goal and excel in it. He further mentioned that many of Nagas are serving the world in various professions and capacities.

John challenged the toppers to be ambassadors of the coming generation by choosing professions and endeavours that they enjoy doing and also for the purpose of doing well while going beyond the perceived notion of government jobs or civil service exams.

Speaking about the award ceremony, President of the ANCSU, Vimeyiekho Vitso informed the gathering that the felicitation programme for degree toppers was first initiated in 2018.
