Tuensang, September 28 (MExN): Nagaland State Legal Services Authority and District Legal Service Authority organized Mini Legal Service Camp on September 27 at KTC hall Noklak in collaboration and coordination with Labour department. It was stated in a DIPR report that Government of Nagaland has constituted the Nagaland Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board to provide social security to this section of workers by implementing different welfare scheme specially designed for the purpose. Around 150 construction workers attended the programme and were issued Identity Card. The resource persons were A.Vitso, SeyievioNeihu, Imtiluin, M.Hachan, Rolongse and S.Niulu.
The Building and other construction workers are one of the most vulnerable segments of the unorganized Labour in India and Nagaland cannot be isolated. Their work is of temporary nature, the relationship between employer and employee is temporary, working hours are uncertain. Basic amenities and welfare facilities are nonexistent or inadequate where provided. Risk to the life and limb is also inherent.
