Nagaland Civil Service Association (NCSA) President, S Tainiu today said that constructive engagement between policy makers and civil service plays a vital role in building a responsive, accountable and people centric administration.
Sharing the journey of the civil service in Nagaland, she said that over the years, the NCSA has grown in strength, unity and impact.
It has been a journey of resilience, adapting to the unique challenges posed by our socio-political landscape, and of striving to make public administration more responsive, efficient, and transparent, Tainiu said while delivering presidential address at the 47th General Conference of NCSA at Imagine Nagaland Hall, ATI Kohima.
Each day, she said, the civil servants are entrusted with the task of delivering essential services to the people of Nagaland.
From the remotest villages to the urban centers, we work tirelessly to ensure that our citizens have access to quality education, healthcare, infrastructure, and welfare services. Yet, in doing so, we are constantly confronted with the reality that change is not always easy, and progress is often slow, she said.
We share the vision of a prosperous, peaceful, and progressive Nagaland, Tainiu said and maintained that the civil servants can bring about meaningful change.
Stating that civil servants play an integral role in shaping the future of the state, she said “ But in order to do so effectively, we must first acknowledge the evolving needs of our society, the aspirations of our youth, the demands of a growing population, and the changing dynamics of governance.”
Focus on innovative, inclusive, forward-thinking
The NCSA president stressed on the need to focus innovative, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
We should act as the crucial link between the Government and the people, ensuring that the needs of the citizens are communicated and addressed, she said.
Tainiu also stressed on the need to continue to focus on fostering good governance, transparency, and accountability.
We must embrace technology, strengthen our administrative capacity, and develop policies that can adapt to the changing times. We must also keep in mind the values of fairness, equity, and justice, ensuring that the benefits of development reach all corners of our state, regardless of geography, ethnicity, or socio-economic background, she said.
Tainiu stressed on the need to focus for better infrastructure, a more efficient bureaucracy, and improved public service delivery, greater accountability, a stronger work ethic, and a deeper sense of unity among the civil service fraternity.
Acknowledging the immense contribution of all the members, both past and present, she said “Your dedication and hard work have shaped the success of this Association and have made a significant impact on the lives of our fellow citizens.”
“Let us continue to work together to advance the cause of good governance, to promote the welfare of our people, and to build a future for Nagaland that we can all be proud of,” she said adding “May we continue to serve with excellence and integrity, guided by the principles of justice, fairness, and compassion. Together, let us make a difference.”
