The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection (LM&CP), Tuensang, organised a consumer awareness campaign cum prize distribution programme at LM&CP office on June 18.
The programme chairperson was Lemtimong, LDA while Yemjong B N Chang, Inspector of LM&CP, delivered the welcome and keynote address.
As part of the awareness campaign, an essay writing competition on the theme ‘A Responsible Consumer’ was conducted earlier in the day. A total of 51 students from six schools and consumer clubs across Tuensang participated in the contest.
The results of the competition were declared during the event, with the top prize going to Betichemdem O of Holy Angel School, who received a cash award of Rs 5,000 and a certificate. Thangshilila, also from Holy Angel School, secured the second position, while Dirola Anra of St Joseph’s High School won third place.
Five students received consolation prizes, which included Nechai S Lushing Khiam - St Joseph’s High School; Chuba Yenla - Holy Angel School; Liang - Loyem Memorial High Schoo; K Vetsuof- Joseph’s High School; Tonching Khumla - Baptist Thangyen Higher Secondary School
Assistant Controller C Chullen Chang addressed the gathering, highlighting the department’s ongoing efforts to build a culture of consumer awareness, especially among young citizens.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks from the chairperson.
