DIMAPUR, MAY 30 (MExN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA), in collaboration with the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection (LMCP), Dimapur, conducted consumer awareness programmes on the theme "Know Your Rights" on May 29 and 30 at Seithekema C, Chümoukedima, and Little Star Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, respectively.
The programme on May 29 was chaired by Nishela Assumi, Panel Lawyer, while the May 30 session was chaired by Visheli Yeptho, Panel Lawyer. The resource persons included Sonile Seb, Retainer Lawyer; Zuchumpeni Ngullie, Panel Lawyer; and Rokovitsu Khate, Panel Lawyer.
The sessions focused on the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, with speakers highlighting the legal safeguards available to consumers and how to seek redress for grievances. Er Ngangshimakok, Assistant Controller, LMCP, Dimapur, delivered the keynote address on both days. He stressed the importance of the six fundamental consumer rights guaranteed under the Act and elaborated on the "Jago Grahak Jago" campaign launched by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs in 2005.
