Mayang Lima, president, Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (CDRF) & District & Session Judge said despite the lack of infrastructures in the state, consumer’s rights should not be denied and called upon the CDRF spread the message of Consumers Act.
The Session Judge is addressing on the World Consumer Day at Hotel Japfu, as the Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection and Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization joined the celebration along with the rest of the world today.
Addressing as the chief guest Lima said redressing the rights of the consumer is very important and is a must, adding that since the Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum is functioning, he said those responsible should ensure timely appointment of the officials and also urged the forum to encourage the consumers to note that justice is delivered to them. He also acknowledged the presence of the students from Law College as their participation will further strengthen in knowing one’s rights and also appealed the students to carry the message of the Consumers Act to the public.
Underlining the importance of tax, Lima said tax awareness is another important matter the consumers should know adding that consumers should insist on cash memo on every purchase and urged to check the price to make sure right price is paid. He fervently appealed the participants to be conscious of the consumers Act and also to be aware of inline shopping as many criminals are involved into this act and to approach the forum to redress of any issue anytime. The chief guest also released “Book on Consumer Rights Awareness”, prepared and compiled by Kezhokhoto Savi, Advocate & president NCVO.
Other speakers included Elizabeth Ngully, CEO, KMC, BSNL, M. James Richa, Chemist, State Publiuc Health Laboratory, Er. Imti Ao Additional Chief Engineer Power, Nagaland, Haikambe Zeliang, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology & Consumer protection, Kohima and Neingulie Nakhro Spokesperson, KCCI spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Kezhokhoto Savi while Rev. Iringtie pronounced invocation. Chubatola Imsong presented special number and closing remark was done by Chullen Chang, inspector, legal Metrology & Consumer protection, Kohima.
