
Maligaon, February 12 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway recovered ganja and liquor worth more than Rs 7.13 lakh during February 7 to 10. The contraband goods were recovered during checking and drives conducted at different trains and stations over NF Railway, Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR stated in a press release.
On February 10, RPF team of Agartala conducted checking in train No. 14619 DN (Tripura Sundari Express) at Agartala railway station and recovered 6 kg unclaimed ganja worth about Rs 60,000. The recovered ganja was handed over to OC/GRP/Agartala for necessary action. On February 9, CPDS team of RPF/New Jalpaiguri conducted checking in train No. 12346 DN (Saraighat Express) at New Jalpaiguri railway station and recovered 12 packets ganja weighing about 21.3 kg. It was worth about Rs 2.13 lakh. The recovered ganja was handed over to OC/GRP/New Jalpaiguri for disposal.
The RPF team of Agartala on February 8 conducted checking at Agartala railway station and recovered one packet unclaimed ganja weighing 4.5 kg and worth about Rs 45,000. Later, the recovered ganja was handed over to OC/GRP/Agartala for further necessary action. Moreover, on 7th February, 2022, CPDS team of RPF/Katihar conducted a special drive in train No. 01666 (Rani Kamlapati Special) from Barsoi to Katihar railway station. During the drive, the team recovered 13 packets unclaimed ganja weighing 38.080 kg, worth about Rs. 3.8 lakh. It was handed over to OC/GRP/Katihar for disposal.
The CPDS team of RPF/Alipurduar Junction under the supervision of Divisional Security Commissioner (DSC) of Alipurduar Junction conducted a surprise drive in train No. 12516 DN (Coimbatore Express) on February 9. During checking in the train from Kokrajhar to New Coochbehar, the team apprehended one on duty pantry car staff and recovered 13 bottles liquor worth Rs 1,225-. The apprehended person could not give any satisfactory reply regarding the recovered liquor. He was later handed over to OC/GRPS/Alipurduar Junction for further course of action.
The RPF team of Guwahati on February 9, conducted checking against illegal activities at Guwahati railway station and recovered three unclaimed bags containing 60 bottles liquor, worth Rs 14,016. Later, the recovered/seized liquor bottles were handed over to Excise Department, Guwahati for disposal.
