Kohima, July 7 (MExN): Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers Union (NCSU) President, Pele Khezhie has encouraged the people of Nagaland to go ahead with the agricultural activities in order to ensure food security in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.


The COVID-19 pandemic may have disheartened many people but farming has to continue in order to have food security, he said while undertaking paddy transplantation in his paddy field on the bank of Dzü river along the Kohima-Chakhabama road.


Khezhie maintained that the challenges and threat posed by COVID-19 pandemic has channelized many people to get back to the fertile soil to attain self-sufficiency while also making efforts towards boosting the individual as well as state’s economy.


Keeping in line with the traditional practices of helping one another during paddy transplantation season, the family and well wishers of Dapfhütsumia Khel of Kohima village assisted Pele on July 4 in getting the paddy transplantation done.
