Contractors respond to ENSF’s NH 155 spot verification invitation

Kohima, February 16 (MExN): The Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) Head Office, Kohima has surprisingly  appreciated the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) for inviting the union along with the state government representatives, department officials and NGOs for spot verification of NH 155 on the of February 19 and 20.  However, the union is constrain to inform that it will not be able to respond to such invitation as the “student body is not a competent and qualified authority for carrying out such jobs,” stated in a press note issued by its vice president Tseibou Khusoh and secretary Imsunok Jamir.

Moreover it stated that  the union did not find any “merit or logic of the ENSF in calling for such spot verification” at specific portion at Km 55-60 on the NH-155.

The union in the note said that it doubts as to why the ENSF decided to pin point certain contractors and black listed them and not the entire contractors carrying out contract work under their jurisdiction and also calling for spot verification at certain portions of the NH-155. It also went on saying that the union “strongly feels that it would be appropriate had the ENSF adopted such an approach of calling for such on spot verification before taking the law into their own hand and resorting to blacklisting contractors particularly, the president of the NCSU which is not only a character and career assassination but also defame the good name of the union”.

The union also took serious note on the repeated and uncalled for “threat and caution served by the ENSF” and decided that had any untoward incident happened to any of the so called blacklisted contractors and NCSU officials and members, the union would initiate its own course of action.

In a separate press note the NCSU, Dimapur, has taken offence at the inclusion of a colleague in the ‘blacklist’ issued by the ENSF.

Meanwhile, the NCSU Dimapur district has called a meeting of all its office bearers and executive members on February 17 at 11:00 am, to be held at its Union office at PWD Complex, the press note stated.
