Contractors’ Union flay Nagaland government

NGRC-1 CU laud Lotha, Rengma communities for their fight against bad roads

Dimapur, August 16 (MExN): The Nagaland Govt. Registered Class-1 Contractors’ Union (NGRC-1 CU) has flayed the state government over the bad road conditions and the practice of “commissions”.

Politicians instead of giving excuses of not having money for roads should first stop practicing “commission/party fund”, the union stated and called for strict adherence to the rules and norms as laid down in NPWD Code as well as CPWD Code. “Do away with the works which is in total violation of all ethics of technicalities,” the contractors’ union demanded. “Enough is enough,” the union asserted.

Insisting that citizens have the right to demand good roads, the union maintained that the government as a welfare state is responsible for all the bad roads.

The union extended its solidarity with the Tribal Hohos, Youth/Students/Women bodies of the Lotha and Rengma communities and Lotha–Rengma Class-1 Contractors’ Association for hosting protests against the bad road, particularly the NH-2 which crosses Rengma and Lotha areas and has been left neglected for the last several years bringing so much of hardships to all the people in the state and more particularly upon the two community.

“The two community’s fight against bad roads and also the fight for good road is a very good cause and it is for all every citizen in the state,” the union stated adding that the NH-2 is one the life-lines of the stated.
