Cooperative Societies, SHGs members trained

Kohima, November 27 (MExN): The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), Cooperative Education Field Project in collaboration with the Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Imphal organized training on leadership and skill development from November 24–26 at the conference hall of the office of the Registrar of Cooperatives Societies, Kohima.

The valedictory programme was graced by B. Bumo Khiamniungan, Jt. RCS, who maintained Cooperatives are expected to be more practical in functioning and not focus on paper works and theory alone. He lamented that many registered Cooperative Societies are one man society looking for assistance and subsidy from the government. He also shared some of the successful Self Help Groups and Societies in Nagaland. He lauded the NCUI and ICM for organizing such programme.  

Brief speeches were delivered by Joy Chandra Singh, Senior Faculty and Dr. Herojit Singh, Faculty, ICM Imphal. The programme was chaired by Ketholenuo, Project Officer, NCUI, Kohima, response on behalf of the trainees was given by Kenongonu Cynthia Soleho, vote of thanks was delivered by Keneilezo Senotso, CEI, NCUI.  

The training included technical session and skill development on mixed pickle making and mushroom cultivation. Certificate and finished products of skill training were distributed to all the 60 participants from various Cooperative Societies and Self Help Groups.
