WOKHA, JUNE 19 (MExN): A coordination meeting for the upcoming ULB election for Town Council, Bhandari was held at the conference hall of the Additional Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer, Bhandari, Longdiba L Sangtam on June 19.
The ADC & RO, who chaired the meeting in the presence of Joint Secretary, School Education & Observer, ULB Election for Bhandari, Avelu Ruho congratulated the two candidates who were declared unopposed.
The RO appealed the candidates and party workers to cooperate with the State Election Commission and the civil administration for smooth and peaceful conduct of the upcoming ULB Election in Bhandari slated for June 26.
Stating that the local body election will be conducted according to the guidelines of the SEC, he cautioned and reminded all stakeholders to avoid practice of corruption and to avoid exerting undue influence on the electorates through unfair means.
He also assured that all efforts will be made to provide services assistance on the part of the official machinery for smooth conduct and to exercise right to franchise by all eligible voters without interruption.
Speaking in the meeting, Joint Secretary & Observer, Avelu Ruho lauded the ADC & R0, Longdiba L. Sangtam for the smooth functioning of the election process in Bhandari. She emphasized on the guidelines of existing rules and regulations and highlighted on various points of 'Dos and Don'ts to be followed for free and fair election.
SDPO, Bhandari, Vekato Chishi stated that Police engaged in election duty would be rendering security service as neutral body without fear or favour, and anyone caught in unlawful activities would be held liable according to appropriate section of law.
Khonthungia Odyuo, one of the two candidates declared unopposed, thanked and expressed gratitude for having been declared elected unopposed.
The RO also conducted demonstration on how to handle the voting papers and cast the paper votes safely. The meeting was attended by candidates and party workers from all the 9 wards of Bhandari town in which matters relating to the upcoming ULB election was deliberated with equal participation by all.
