COPTA conducts surprise checking in Wokha

Wokha, January 22 (MExN): Anti Tobacco flying squad COPTA Wokha unit conducted surprise checking in and around Wokha town within the educational institutions perimeter of 100 yards on January 22.


The team comprises of members from District Administration, Police, Lotha Student’s Union and staffs from Chief Medical Officer Office. Around twenty schools including private and government schools were covered. This was stated in a press release from Zuben, IA, Wokha.


During the checking, 16 defaulters were caught and penalized a fine of Rs 200 each as per government notification. Earlier the COPTA team also conducted similar raid and defaulters were warned for the first offence.

COPTA further warned all the shop keepers in and around school premises not to sell tobacco products to the students and directed to abide by the laid down rules of COPTA. Similar checking will be conducted in the near future added the COPTA officials.
