CorCom calls for Manipur bandh today

Newmai News Network Imphal | October 14   The CorCom (Co-ordination Committee), an umbrella body of various Meitei underground outfits including UNLF and RPF/PLA, has announced to call Manipur bandh on October 15, saying “it was on October 15, 1949 that India proclaimed the merger of Manipur into the Indian Union.   The CorCom claimed that the people of Manipur have been opposing the alleged annexation of Manipur on the reasons that the merger agreement was a deceitful one. CorCom also alleged that King Budhachandra was forced to sign the merger agreement under duress.   It can be noted here that CorCom has been calling bandh on October 15 every year. CorCom calls the day as “National Black Day”.   CorCom then appealed the people to co-operate the organization by closing businesses, offices and other normal chores for the day. However, emergency services like medical, water supply and media will be exempted from the purview of the bandh. The bandh will begin from midnight of October 14 and ends at 6 pm of October 15. CorCom also appealed the people to support the liberation movement.
