Corruption alleged in civil hospital Mon

Like the rest of the Departments under the State, Civil Hospital Mon also has its share of corruption. Apart from various misuse of funds meant for developmental process, the fund that came under Reproductive Child Health (RCH), approximately 10 to 15 lakhs is said to have been misused. After a long inquiry, it was found that the fund that came last year under R.C.H for construction of Blood bank, Incinerator and Water Tank at Civil Hospital Mon has never been utilized accordingly. The so called Blood Bank which is supposed to be equipped with latest refrigerating system and other equipments does not even have a room. The 10/10, 4 ft high wall over grown with grasses that is seen in the picture, attached to the blood testing room, is supposedly the Blood Bank room.

The Incinerator is another such story. There is only a single wall of about 4 ft in height and 7 ft in length that is almost overwhelmed by grasses. Going around the Hospital, only few plastic water containers (Sentex) are seen and when inquired it was told that they were not from the said fund confirming the fact that Water Tank has not been constructed at all.

Observing the work it is very certain that the total amount spent on these two haphazard walls meant to be blood bank room and incinerator, would not exceed Rs, 10,000 from the fund of more than 10 lakhs. Where is the rest of the money?

The biggest question here is as to how did the contractor who is a local, obtain the Completion Certificate when nothing has been done? It has been learnt that the Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Mon, A.K Mech, was responsible for issuing the Completion Certificate which enabled the contractor to draw the money. KU is to question AK Mech as to why he had issued the completion Certificate when the said works have not been done at all.

This is an outright misuse of public fund. Due to lack of incinerator Hospital vicinity is filled with organic and inorganic waste which causes more sickness than otherwise. Besides, the water, far from being chlorinated and treated, is hardly available in the Hospital. And while the outside World is donating blood, Mon is nowhere in position to do so due to lack of blood bank jeopardizing the lives of many during emergencies.

It is a big opportunity for Mon public to see if the concerned authorities are going to do anything against the persons involved in such outrageous act.
