‘Corruption has reached heights under DAN govt.’

Dimapur, October 30 (MExN): Newly elected Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President, SI Jamir said today that corruption in Nagaland has reached heights under the DAN government. Addressing Congress party workers in Dimapur, Jamir pointed out the public is tired with the corruption taking place under DAN government rule; adding that the Centre is also taking note about public money being wasted. He said DAN is ruling “not because of public support but with the help a few independents here and there.” Jamir called upon Congress cadres to sink their differences and work united for the success of the party in the next State general election.

Speaking publicly for the first time after taking over as NPCC chief, Jamir reminded party workers that what happened during the party’s internal election should not be a cause for any differences within the party. “From today onwards we will work together…we must work as one,” he told the gathered Congress cadres.

Jamir said that as party chief he has no readymade formula and needs the support of all party workers. He said that it will be the collective leadership at all times which will guide the party. He also invited advises and suggestion from party workers in order to strengthen the party, especially at the grass root level.

“This is a challenge for Congressmen…I cannot do it alone,” Jamir said, appealing for support and cooperation from Congress party workers. He also acknowledged the love and support of Congress cadres and said that it has given him more strength to work for the party and the people of Nagaland.

Senior Congress leader, KL Chishi also appealed for unity among party workers and their commitment to the new party chief. He said any election process is a democratic norm and such should not divide the party. Chishi urged Congress party workers not to carry any reservation or hesitation and work with sincerity under the stewardship of Jamir.

“We must accept that we are one…there should be no group-ism,” he said.

Chishi hoped that the new president will work with seriousness to salvage and revive the party; strive to bring Congress to the helm of affairs. He urged Congress party workers to continue working for solidarity and integrity of the party.

Dimapur District Congress Committee (DCC) felicitated the new Congress party President. DCC President, Kughato Aye on behalf of the party workers pledged support to the new president who is also a legislative member from Dimapur-II constituency. Aye assured the DCC will work with sincerity even in future. The DCC, Area Congress Constituencies, District Congress Mahlila, District Seva Dal and the District Minority Cell also felicitated the new president.
