Councilors for East Dimapur and Niuland Town Councils take oath

DIMAPUR, JULY 4 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, administered the ‘Oath of Affirmation’ to the 11 newly elected members of the East Dimapur Town Council on July 4, 2024. The ceremony, held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Dimapur.

Dr. Chang congratulated the newly elected councillors, expressing the administration’s eagerness to work with them. “This day is historic as we welcome new leadership after two decades, with significant representation for women,” he said.

The councillors who took the Oath of Affirmation are: Ward 1: Lireni Ovung (NDPP); Ward 2: Niuto Awomi (NDPP); Ward 3: Kanato Sema (IND); Ward 4: Manna Zhimo (NDPP); Ward 5: K. Hokuto Murumi (NDPP); Ward 6: Vicky Achumi (IND); Ward 7: Olotoli A. Yeptho (NDPP); Ward 8: Razuo Dozo (NDPP); Ward 9: Alemla Tovi (NDPP); Ward 10: Krishna Mech (NDPP); and Ward 11: Mughavi Swu (BJP).

The event was attended by Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor for Industries & Commerce, Mhalo Humtsoe, ADC, Dimapur, and other officials.

Meanwhile, in the recently concluded Urban Local Body (ULB) election for the Nuiland Town Council, the BJP secured 6 out of 9 wards, with independent candidates winning the remaining 3 seats. The Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, Sarah S. Jamir, administered the oath to the newly elected Town Council Members on the same day at the DC’s conference hall in Niuland.

The members unanimously elected Kakheka Zhimomi as the Chairman and Visheli Zhimo as the Vice Chairman of the Niuland Town Council.
