
Kohima, May 6 (DIPR): NGISRSC UAV-RS training programme, a six-day course for space application centers of North East region and Andhra Pradesh culminated on May 6. A joint venture of North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) and Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC), the programme was held under ‘Use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Remote Sensing (UAV-RS)’ for the states of North Eastern Region (NER) at NGISRSC, Kohima.
The main objective of the project is to develop UAV infrastructure in all the states' remote sensing and space application centers of North East for utilization of UAV-RS technology in all developmental planning activities. In the concluding programme held at the Chief Secretary’s conference hall on May 6, the Director, NESAC, PLN RAJU, presenting an overview of the utilities of UAVs said that UAVs can be used in enormous applications including security and agricultural surveillance, landslide studies and host of others. Sitting at home you can monitor the applications, he said. While appreciating the advancement of the North East regions in the field from other regions of the country, he assured continued support and assistance of the NESAC to the state as and when called for.
Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland, Pankaj Kumar gave a remark on the need and use of the UAV technology and adapting to the technological advancements. He encouraged the participants from the various states to communicate with one another for technology building and transfer, so that the whole North Eastern states will establish itself as a ‘cluster of excellence’. He expressed hope that the training will go a long way in fulfilling the need of the region for space application in planning and development. He further stated that the programme will be the beginning of a new venture and expressed appreciation to the NESAC for coming up with such collaborative project and wished more of such programmes in the future.
20 participants (officers/engineers/scientists) from all the North Eastern states including Andhra Pradesh attended the training. The concluding session of the training was chaired by Project Director, NGISRSC, Er. Mhathung Kithan, while Training Instructor, NGISRSC, Er. Atho-o presented the training course debrief.
