Nagaland State Nodal Officer for IDSP, Dr. Nyathung Kikon today informed that 80% of those recovered have been discharged till date.

Informing this at a press briefing this evening here at Kohima, Dr. Kikon said the discharge is being done in concurrence with the district discharging the patient and the district receiving the patient.

When enquired on the discharge policy being followed in the state, Principal Director, Dr. Vizolie Suokhrie said patients are being discharged following the negative result of the second test after the 14th day.

The guidelines of the Government of India on discharge policy states that if a person is asymptomatic, one needn’t go for second testing and can be discharged for home quarantine, said Dr. Suokhrie,

However, taking extra precautionary measures, he said “we do the second test and if the test turns out to be negative, and then only we discharge the person. Recovery is based on the second test result.”
