Nagaland registered the highest single-day spike of 71 new COVID-19 positive cases on July 13, a State Health Authority updated Monday morning. 


With this, the total number of cases also crossed 800 mark in the state to reach 845 on July 13, up from 774 on July 12.


“Out of 816 sample tested, 71 new +ve cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed,” Nagaland’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, S Pangnyu Phom updated on Twitter.


Out of 71 cases, 60 were from Dimapur, 7 from Mon and 4 were from Kohima, he added.


Accordingly, the total case status in Nagaland as of 10:10 AM, July 13 stood at: Positive: 845; Active: 518; and Recovered: 327.


The previous highest single-day spike was recorded on June 22 with 69 new cases, followed by 59 on July 10.


While cases reached from 3 on May 25 to 459 on June 30 (30 days), since July 1 the number of cases has risen by 386 in just 13 days to reach 845, indicating acceleration in the ratio of infections.
