
4 patients shifted to Shokhuvi

With 83 patients as of June 8, the COVID-19 Hospital Dimapur is already full and four COVID-19 patients (all male) were shifted to COVID-19 Hospital at Assam Rifles Camp, Shokhuvi on June 7. Out of 83 patients, 59 are male and 24 female. The 50-bedded COVID Hospital at Shokhuvi is managed by the Assam Rifles.
When contacted, In-charge of Dimapur for COVID-19 activities, Y Kikheto Sema said that except for a few vacant beds which have been reserved for emergency use, the capacity at the COVID Hospital is now full.
He appreciated the Assam Rifles for accommodating the 4 patients in their Hospital and assured them that necessary directives from the state home department will be initiated to allow testing of samples from symptomatic army and paramilitary personnel, in the state’s laboratory facilities.
The In-charge meanwhile advised the COVID-19 patients not to panic since eight have already recovered and expressed optimism that the remaining patients would also recover. Out of the eight recovered patients, 7 are male and one female, he informed.
Further, Kikheto also informed that army and paramilitary personnel most of who arrived by train during the wee hours of June 8 had to take shelter on the road side and huts at NER Agri Expo Site while waiting for registration and screening process. He said the authorities were not prepared for facilitating such a huge number of persons. “However, with the latest SOP, the army and paramilitary would now take care of their own personnel right from arrival to accommodation and it will ease our burden as we have limited workforce but they will submit the details to us and we will compile it,” he said. Kikheto also added that those personnel returning to the state on leave would be taken care of by the state government.
He expressed satisfaction at the performance of Team Dimapur as far as handling the returnees were concerned thanked the civil societies for their continuous support and cooperation to the authorities.
More than 75% returnees arrived
Kikheto meanwhile informed that with the arrival of the 949 persons reaching on June 8, more than 75% of the total expected returnees will have arrived in the state. “If we count the Maharashtra/Gujarat group about to reach tonight, a total of 11,000 persons have already come back to the state,” he said.
At the time of filing this report, the Special train from Maharashtra/Gujarat which was expected to reach Dimapur at around 10:30 pm had still not arrived.
The next major arrival is from the southern states numbering between 1300-1400 persons, who will start their journey on June 9 and arrive at Dimapur on June 13. Another special Shramik train for Nagaland from north India is expected but its departure date is still to be fixed.
