COVID-19: Nagaland logs 2nd-highest daily rise in cases

Nagaland, on July 24, logged its second-highest daily rise in COVID-19 cases with 65 fresh infections, a day after witnessing the highest-single day surge of 90 cases.

7 more recoveries were also reported from the state on Friday, updates by a health authority informed.

A morning update by Nagaland’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, S Pangnyu Phom informed on Twitter informed that 63 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the state.

“Out of 372 samples tested, 63 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed. 41 in Dimapur, 21 in Kohima & 1 in Peren,” he said. 

Later in the evening, the minister updated that two more positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed - 1 each in Tuensang and Peren.

With this, the state witnessed a total of 65 new cases on July 24 taking the total tally to 1239.

Meanwhile, he also informed that there 7 more COVID-19 patients recovered from Kohima, taking the total recoveries in the State to 537.

Accordingly, the status as per the latest update at 5:55PM on July 24 stood at: Total – 1239; active – 701; and recovered: 537.

Meanwhile, an elderly patient, who was undergoing treatment at the COVID-19 Hospital Dimapur, passed away on July 24 early morning.

The daily bulletin issued by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, Nagaland Health and Family Welfare, also stated that “1 death reported from Dimapur is yet to be established as due to COVID-19” but slotted the same under the 'death' category.
