COVID-19: Nagaland’s total at 163, Mon registers first new cases

State records highest single-day recovery of cases

As many as 27 COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered in the past 24 hours, leading to an improvement in Nagaland’s recovery rate on Saturday. This is the highest single-day recovery of cases so far in the state, taking the total tally of recoveries to 76.


All recovered cases reported on Saturday are from Dimapur.


Attributing the high rate of recovery cases to the hard work of frontline workers particularly to the medical team of Dimapur, Y Kikheto Sema who is in-charge of Dimapur for COVID-19 activities, also expressed hope that more recoveries will be made in the days to come and the state will gradually become Corona free.

 

7 new active cases on Saturday
On the other hand, 7 other samples tested positive for COVID-19 taking the total number of cases to 163 on June 13. The total number of active cases now stands at 87.


Out of the 7 that tested positive today, one was from Kohima while 6 of the cases were reported from among the Chennai returnees who were transferred to Mon district after reportedly testing negative in their first test.


With the detection of 6 active cases in the district, Mon Deputy Commissioner Thavaseelan K informed that the quarantine centres at Wangkhao Government College and ITI campus, where the Chennai returnees are kept, have been activated as a containment zones.


The COVID Care Centre has also been activated to treat the patients as all cases are asymptomatic and are in the age group of 18-32, the DC informed.


As per the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, all the 87 active cases are asymptomatic cases.


Out of these, 58 cases are in Dimapur, 21 in Kohima, 6 in Mon while 2 are in Peren district.
