COVID awareness and Christmas outreach with vegetable vendors held in Kohima

Kohima, December 3 (MExN): The Viliethie Complex and TOUDI Enterprise, Kohima jointly organized “COVID awareness and Christmas outreach with vegetable vendors of MLA Hostel Junction, Kohima” at the AKM Conference Hall on December 2.

A NEPS report stated that a large number of woman vegetable vendors from the MLA Hospital Junction area attended the programme.

Speaking on COVID awareness, Athungo Ezung, Drugs Inspector, CMO Office, Kohima shared with the woman vegetable vendors about the three important things they should always maintain to prevent themselves from COVID. He told them that they were mothers selling vegetables in the streets and so vulnerable to the COVID and they should always wear masks, use hand sanitizer, or wash their hands with soap as often as possible and maintain distance.

Ezung cautioned against those who were least bothered of the COVID saying that the pandemic was not yet over. “It is still there,” he warned and furthered advised them that if they had any symptoms of cough or fever, they could always contact the CMO Office, Kohima. “We will always be in your service,” he added.

Joint CEO of Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL), Avelu Ruho also spoke extensively about the nature of streets where commuters should have their place to walk, street vendors should have their place to sell their stuff. “It is not only for the vehicles to ply,” she added. Ruho also shared about the Smart City characteristics where all including the street vendors had a role to play for it.

Pastor Shan Kikon, Senior Pastor, Faith Harvest Church, Kohima also spoke during the event. The organizers presented gifts and cash to the vegetable vendors attending the programme.
