Jalukie, September 24 (MExN): The College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Jalukie, under Peren district, celebrated ‘Rajbhasha Week’ from September 16 to 22, with a series of Hindi competitions and a special lecture aimed at promoting the use of the official language.
The week-long event was attended by Dr I Shakuntala, Dean of the college, as the special guest, along with Dr Brijesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Nagaland University, besides faculty members, staff and students, stated a press release received here.
Inaugurating the programme, the Dean emphasised the significance of Rajbhasha Diwas in enriching national unity and briefed the gathering about the beauty and diversity of India's linguistic heritage.
The celebration featured a range of Hindi competitions, including Hindi solo song, Hindi word (oral), Hindi word (written) and Hindi poem recitation, in which students, staff and faculty participated, showcasing their proficiency in the language.
At the valedictory programme, Dr Brijesh Kumar delivered a special lecture on “Hindi as the official language and its use.” He urged the audience to use Hindi in official work, not only to show respect to the nation but also to encourage everyone to speak and write it confidently, and advocated its use in day-to-day communication to increase its popularity.
Prize winners were awarded appreciation certificates and gifts.
The programme was organised by Dr Tukheswar Chutia, Convener and Assistant Professor, Department of VGO; Dr Amrit Gogoi, Co-convener and Assistant Professor, Department of VPP; Dr Rabeya Begam, Member and Assistant Professor, Department of VPA; and Bishal Roy, Member and 4th Year student.
