
Phek, September 1 (MExN): A two-day Consultative Meeting of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) was held at Phek on August 31 and September 1 at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Phek.
According to a press release, on the opening day, a special meeting with all the Chakhesang gazetted officers posted under Phek district was convened where the CPO sought their unflinching support and cooperation by rendering their best services towards the building of the community.
On the second day, the CPO held a joint meeting with the Phek Area Public Organization (PAPO) Officials along with the entire neighbouring Village Council Chairmen, VCMs, Pastors, village frontal organizations, and elders of Phek Town and dwelt on various important issues confronting the community.
Addressing the gathering, CPO President, Kekhwengulo Lea, urged upon the village authorities to firmly uphold in preserving the moral values and ethics of the pioneers by being honest and straight forward.
Keeping in mind the necessity of preserving the bio-diversity, CPO President highlighted the standing resolution of the CPO and in a strong message, directed the PAPO officials and the village authorities to fervently uphold the ban on burning of jungles, hunting, extraction of flora and fauna.
As part of upholding its resolution on non-import of poultry in to the jurisdiction of the Chakhesang areas, the CPO team along with the leaders visited the State Pig Breeding Centre, Phek located some 6 km away from Phek Town and interacted with the officials of the centre.
Observing that the centre is in need of an upgrade for better breeding seeds and sheds for shelter, the CPO appealed to the concerned department to pay attention to the centre for its basic requirement. CPO also urged the people of the area to give constant support to the officials of the centre.
