Kohima, April 18 (MExN): The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) and Pochury Hoho had a get-together recently with its frontal organizations at Shilloi Lake Tourist Resort, Lütsam under Meluri subdivision of Phek district.

All the speakers expressed happiness and gratitude to the Almighty that the two communities could come together in this manner for the first time after political separation.

The members also highlighted the need for continuance and strengthening the relationship, while voicing concern on the need to work in tandem in all the platforms for upliftment, all round development, further advancement, and protecting the interest of the two communities of Phek district and Nagas in general.

Meanwhile, the house resolved to urge the authorities concerned of the state government on the following areas:

1. That the State Administrative Officer at Phukhungri be manned all the time (presently EAC is not posted) in view of it being the last strategic international border (Myanmar) administrative headquarters.

2. That a full-fledged Police Station or a functional State Police Outpost be opened at Phokhungri in view of the International Trade Centre (ITC) at Avangkhu as well as for maintenance of law and order in the area.

3. That the road from Akhewgo to Avangkhu ITC via Zhipu (passing through the State lone Cement Factory & Decorative Stone Production Centre at Waziho and the Shilloi Lake Tourist Resort at Lütsam) in a very bad-deplorable condition at present, be made all weather road with RCC or Bailey Bridge over Thewati River and black topped under any available scheme/ program of the government on priority. Otherwise, come monsoon, the Phokhungri area inclusive of Tourist Resort and ITC shall be cut off from the mainland, it said.

4. The International Trade Centre at Avangkhu be operationalised at an early date since infrastructure building with Rest House etc had been already constructed and the road connectivity to Lishi, the nearest Myanmar township, is also through.
