CPS empowering service providers for children

Kohima, October 29 (MExN): One day training for master trainers was organized by Child Protection Services (CPS), Social Welfare Department Nagaland under the theme ‘Reducing Harm’ on October 29 at Hotel Ura, Kohima.  

The training aimed at building skills in service providers for children on child victims of sexual abuse. Around 45 staff of District Child Protection Units from all the Districts participated in the training programme. The training module was developed by ARZ (Anyay Rahit Zindagi), an NGO based at Goa, working closely with victims of sexual abuse.  

CPS Nagaland is planning to organize Child Rights Week from November 14 (which is National Children Day) to November 20 (which is an International Child Rights Day) where these master trainers will organize extensive awareness campaign against Child Sexual Abuse in Schools and Child Care Institutions.  

In continuation with the campaign, the Department will also be organizing various other programmes during the week such as photo exhibition, launching of cradles for unwanted babies at key points in Dimapur districts and distribution of gifts to the unprivileged children etc.
