Creating awareness on disaster management through mock drill

Dimapur, April 19 (MExN): A team from Civil Defence and Home Guard, Dimapur conducted awareness and training programme on disaster management as a practical mock drill at The Global Open University, Nagaland (TGOUN) on April 13 in Dimapur.  

It was organised by the Department of Hotel Management and Fashion Technology as part of their academic curriculum to enable the students to have hands-on experience, according to a press release from Public Relations Officer, TGOUN.  

The students and staff of the university were imparted with basic training on first aid and emergency methods of rescue. Along with lectures, practical classes and demonstrations on “dos and don’ts” during earthquakes, fire drills and other disaster management scenarios were highlighted. Further, demonstrations on search and rescue techniques were displayed and practical training was also given by the team.  

The students and faculty members were trained on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO), Emergency Method of Rescue, Bandaging and Bleeding control along with practical demonstration, the release added.
