Creation of new districts should realise economic aspirations, says DAYO

Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) on Sunday said that the recent creation of new districts in Nagaland should not only be for administrative redressal but to realise the economic aspirations and opportunities for the common people.

In a press release issued through its Media Cell, the organization stated that India, as a welfare state, has embarked upon a developmental decentralised policy through the creation of more districts so that there is equitable access to government's programmes, polices and schemes, even in the remotest part of the country. Nagaland should also be therefore, a testimony to this noble principle and vision, it said.

It also lauded the decision of the Government of Nagaland to create the 2 new districts of Tseminyu and Shamator keeping in mind tribal sensibilities and said that the decision “should have its logical conclusion without bias.” Further, the creation of Niuland and Chümoukedima districts should not only be for administrative redressal but should be for economic aspirations and opportunities for the common people by taking advantage of the SARFAESI Act, the release stated.

Stating its support for the proposed district demarcation, it said that the government should implement the same without further delay. “After required reasonable rectification, the pragmatic considerations should prevail over other trivial issues,” it said while adding that citizens are expected to extend their goodwill and cooperation on “such magnanimous policy decision” of a duly elected and mandated body of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
