Cricket: Nagaland team loses to Uttarkhand

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 24 (MExN): Nagaland lost to Uttrakhand today at the Vijay Hazare Seniors Mens One Day tournament in the Plate Group-D at Motibaug Cricket Ground.  

Nagaland Captain Jonathan lost the toss and were put to bat. The team lost three wickets with just 32 runs on board. A recovering partnership by two senior players, Hokaito Zhimomi and Jonathan Rongsen of 50 runs was made before the team collapsed. A later partnership of 40 runs between Tahmeed Rahman and Abrar and the a 41 run partnership between Abrar and Ravi enabled Nagaland to put up a total of 206 for 9 in 50 overs.  

Nagaland bowler Pawan Surjal struck two blows in the first over and Uttrakhand was reduced to two wickets down without any score. But later Uttrakhand recovered and despite injury to three Nagaland players, the match went to the 47th over before Nagaland lost.  

With this loss, Nagaland has won two matches and lost two matches, with four remaining matches. On September 28, Nagaland will clash with Manipur at Vadodra.
