Stolen vehicle recovered in Peren
One Bolero (bearing registration No. NL01-H-2714) stolen from Supermarket area of Dimapur on May 25 was recovered around midnight the same day from Peren-Maram road by duty personnel manning Peren-Maram Check Gate, a Peren Police official informed today.
An FIR was lodged on May 25 at East Police Station Dimapur regarding the theft and it was widely circulated through Nagaland Police SMS Based Vehicle Monitoring System (NPSVMS), Superintendent of Police, Peren said in a press note.
Acting upon the report, Peren Police and Dimapur Police made a concerted effort to trace the stolen vehicle and recovered the vehicle after a continued search from Peren-Maram road, it added.
The recovered vehicle was later handed over to the rightful owner on the production of documents after completion of due processes.
Excise officials recover banned drugs
Acting on a tip-off, the Excise narcotic cell enforcement personnel recovered and seized 14,4000 Spasmo Proxyvon , a banned drug, worth Rs. 1,80,000/- in street value from a toilet located at Lake View Colony, Dimapur on May 26, an excise official said today.
A press note from Deputy Commissioner of Excise (NC), Visedelie Mepfuo informed that two drugs peddlers identified as Manju (40 yrs) and Abeni (25 yrs), both resident of Lake view colony Dimapur were arrested and forwarded to judicial custody and booked under relevant section of Drug & Cosmetic Act 1940.
The seizure party was lead by Tiameren AIE, Nokcha AIE, Ikiho H/c, along with Senka, Chumbenthung, Abel, Hetovi, Khetoshe Kiyakhrielie, all Constables of Excise.
4 arrested for extortion, vehicle recovered
The Dimapur Police over the past week have arrested four people for extortion and recovered a stolen vehicle, on official informed today.
According to a press note from Addl. Dy Commissioner of Police/PRO, the first arrest was made on May 21 when the Anti-Extortion Team under Zone-II of the Dimapur Police arrested one Imnaniken Pongen on charges of extortion while he was collecting money in the name of GPRN/NSCN from foot vendors at New Market of Dimapur.
The police said cash collected illegally were seized on his possession and the case is under investigation.
In another operation, the Anti-extortion Team under Zone-I of the Dimapur Police, on May 23, arrested two people identified as Ghunalu Yepthomi and Vinato Yepthomi on charges of extortion while they were found collecting taxes in the name of the GPRN/NSCN from Trucks at Doshehe Market Dimapur.
A case in this regard has been registered in East Police Station, the police said.
The final arrest was made on May 25, when the Staffs of the East Police Station, on receipt of specific information about extortion activities arrested one person from Burma Camp. The police identified the person as one Nitovi Kiba S/o. Khavukhu Kiba, who is reportedly a member of the NNC/NPG (NA).
Cash and other documents were seized from his possession and the case is under investigation, the police said.
Meanwhile, the Staffs of Diphupar Police Station, on May 23, recovered a Truck from Thahekhu Village that was reportedly stolen from Golaghat, Assam. The Vehicle was accordingly handed over to the counterparts in Assam in connection to the case registered there.
One arrested with illegal explosives
One person was arrested for possessing illegal explosive substances by police manning interstate Khuzama check gate on May 25, a Kohima Police official informed today.
The person identified as one D. Koshozü of Laii Village under Tadubi PO/PS and presently a resident of Tenyiphe 1 Village, Dimapur, was intercepted in one un-registered Maruti Gypsy (bearing Chassis No. 455388, Engine No. 215238.) by the police carrying the substances.
According to a press note from Sub-Divisional Police Officer (South) & PRO, Atu Zumvü the car was carrying 20 (twenty) Nos of Gelatin sticks, 6 (six) meters of cortex fuse wire, 100 (hundred) Nos of detonator caps and cash amounting to Rs. 7,40,000/- (Seven lakh forty thousand).
A regular case was registered against him in Khuzama PS, the PRO added.
NSCN (IM) cadre arrested
37 Assam Rifles on May 19 apprehended one Sergeant Major Areo A of the NSCN (IM) during an operation in Pherima.
Acting on specific information about an NSCN (IM) cadre attempting to sell a weapon, the AR personnel intercepted the cadre near Zion Hospital, Purana Bazaar, a press release informed. During the search, one .32 Pistol along with magazine was recovered.
The AR release identified the individual as Areo A (38 years). On spot questioning, the individual revealed that he was attempting to sell the recovered weapon to a potential customer, the release stated. The apprehended cadre along with the recovered weapon was handed over to police on March 20.
