Crime update: Dimapur Police makes several arrests

Dimapur, November 16 (MExN): Dimapur Police have made several arrests in the last few days in connection to extortion, illegal possession of banned items, theft and other related case.  

Accoring to a press release issued by PRO Dimapur Police, Anti Extortion Team (AET), Dimapur Police arrested one person namely Tinku Paul (28) for collecting illegal tax in the name of NSCN (IM) on November 4. 16 nos of extortion slips of NSCN (IM) and cash Rs. 1000 was recovered from his possession. In this connection, a case has been registered at Dimapur East PS and investigation is on.  

On November 9 one person namely Md Abash Khan (31) was arrested for illegal transportation of 82 cartoons of foreign cigarettes. In this connection a case has been registered at Diphupar PS under relevant section of the Cigarettes & Other Tobacco Products Act/COTPA for further investigation.  

Dimapur Police also apprehended one person namely Gladstone Newmai (24) on November 12 and seized 120 nos. of gelatin stick, 100 nos. of detonator, 02 rolls of fuse wire measuring 100 mtrs at Dimapur railway station platform. A case has been registered at GRPS for further investigation, the Police informed.  

Two persons namely Yoami Kasar (33) and Rebecca (35) were arrested on November 12 on charges of drug peddling. The police seized 13 grams (approx) suspected contraband brown sugar and 3 bottles of cough syrups (Elturex). A case has been registered at Diphupar Police station.  

Dimapur Police on November 15 arrested one person namely Kasim Ali (24) for stealing stone chips meant for the highway construction (ECI Company), and also recovered one Auto rickshaw from his possession. In this connection a case has been registered at Medziphema Police Station for further investigation.  

One person Shekato Swu (28), SS Rajapeyu NSCN IM was apprehended by Dimapur Police while trying to steal a Scooty. A screwdriver, one knife and one plier were seized from his possession. In this connection a case has been registered at East Police Station for further investigation.
