CS Nagaland writes to Assam govt on chakha bandh

Kohima, October 20 (DIPR): The Chief Secretary Lalthara has in a letter to the Chief Secretary Assam, NK Das requested him to instruct the concerned District Administration to take necessary steps for lifting the Chakha Bandh imposed on movement of trucks carrying essential commodities to Nagaland by the Hills Area Trucks Owners Association of Assam on the pretext that the road to Nagaland from Mariani is in a deplorable condition.
In a letter the chief Secretary Nagaland informed that the particular road is a GS road under Border Roads Organisation and they have taken up emergency repairs in several locations where the condition was bad. The letter also said that the road is in a much better condition. Lalthara also informed the Chief Secretary Assam that the Association is not allowing movement of trucks from Assam to Nagaland via NH-61 connecting Amguri with Mokokchung. In his letter to the Chief Secretary Assam, Lalthara regretted that non movement of trucks carrying essential commodities has led to scarcity of essential commodities in four districts of Nagaland.
