Kohima, May 21 (MExN): The Chief Secretary & Chairman of the Nagaland Education Mission Society (NEMS), J Alam, convened a review meeting on Tuesday to assess the implementation of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya (NSCBAV) Residential Hostels, and the Morung Concept of Education under Samagra Shiksha Nagaland (SSN) on May 21.
A press release from the State Mission Director SSN, Temsunaro Aier informed that the meeting followed up on an impact study conducted by the Nagaland University Department of Education, led by Dr Limala, Associate Professor, as Principal Investigator, along with four Co-Principal Investigators from the University. The findings of the impact study were presented by the team, but the release did not elaborate further.
Currently, the SSN is implementing 11 type-I KGBVs for elementary girls and 11 type-IV KGBVs for secondary girls, each with a 100 intake capacity for the Educationally Backward Blocks (EBBs) located in the Eastern Districts of the State.
Additionally, there are 13 NSCBAVs with a 50 intake capacity each in 11 districts, and the Morung Concept of Education is being implemented in four districts under State-Specific Innovative Projects.
At the meeting, the performances of the NGOs and districts implementing the projects were reviewed, the release said.
The Chief Secretary also appreciated the NU Impact Study team for their comprehensive study report and informed the State Mission Director, SSN to analyse the report to prepare actionable points for necessary action.
He also appreciated the implementing agencies/NGOs for showing improvement and encouraged them to maximise the utilisation of resources provided by the Government of India to ensure the best possible outcomes in supporting the students, the release added.
The Chief Secretary also directed the State Mission Director SSN to initiate action against non-performers.
A total of 53 members attended the meeting, including the State Mission Director SSN; T. Yangpvuthung Kikon, Additional Secretary, School Education & SCERT; Hiazu Meru, Additional Secretary, School Education; Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, Joint Secretary, School Education; officials from Samagra Shiksha; District Officials; and NGOs involved in the implementation of various projects.
