Dimapur, August 1 (MExN): The Chakhro Southern Angami Union Dimapur (CSAUD) has condemned the “the callousness and negligence” of the agency responsible while expressing shock over the incident on July 26, on which one of its member was killed by a tree that fell on a moving taxi.
The Union, in a joint press release issued by its President and Secretary, stated that it is beyond comprehension that trees were uprooting at such a peak hour of traffic. The accident would have been averted if proper and sufficient men power and district administration involvement was in place, it maintained.
“Human lives cannot be sacrificed for the cause of development,” it said, further mentioning that the deceased member Late Kedichol was a government employee who had a 'bright future as a young and efficient government servant.'
“The future of the young family is now uncertain, therefore the agency /company should compensate the family to lighten the plight of the bereaved family,” it added.
The CSAUD appealed the responsible agency/company and the district administration that “proper guidelines and regulations should be strictly followed so that such accidents should no more occur in the near future.” The Union further conveyed their condolence to the bereaved family.
