Dimapur, December 17 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU), citing official communication from the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), has informed that the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Pre Matric Scholarship for ST students of Nagaland (2021-2022) would be disbursed latest by December 20, 2022.
In a press release on Saturday, ANCSU President Toito D Chishi and General Secretary Tenyesinlo Bukh said that the Directorate had officially written to the union (HED/DIR/1/2021-2022) on December 16, “that under any circumstances the second and final installment of CSS PMS ST 2021-2022 would be disbursed to the student beneficiaries latest by the 20th December 2022.”
As a result, ANCSU has kept its proposed indefinite democratic protest in abeyance, the release stated.
It also appealed to the student community to consider the situation and await the disbursement of scholarship as assured.
The ANCSU recalled that it had, in a press release on December 5, asked the concerned departments and State Government to disburse the scholarships within 10 days. However, due to the delay in sanctioning of fund from the central ministry, the same could not be done.
But with the new development, the ANCSU further appreciated the State Government and DHE for enabling the completion of the requisite procedures on exigency and understanding the needs of scholarship by the students.
