CSU, COU conducts Career Guidance Seminar at Chizami

Kohima, May 15 (MExN): A one day Career Guidance Seminar for students of class 8 and above took place at Goyiepra Memorial Government High School, Chizami on May 13.

It was organized by Chizami Students’ Union (CSU) in collaboration with Chizami Officers Union (COU).

Various topics presented & deliberated at the seminar included: 'Academics & Teaching Profession,’ ‘Civil Services,’ ‘Engineering & IT Sector,’ ‘Development Sector,’ ‘Personality & Career Choices.’

The resource persons included Kewetshete Wezah, Assistant Director, School Education, Nagaland; Wekhrope Akami, Inspector of Industries, Departmen of Industries & Commerce, Nagaland; Er. Wekulhi Lohe (IT M&E), Urban Development, Nagaland; Wekoweu Tsühah, State Co-ordinator, NEN Nagaland; Er Kewepu Tsühah, JE, PWD; and Wetshete Thopi, Assistant Professor, Patkai Christian College.

During the seminar, students were grouped based on their interests and interacted with the experts directly.

More than 250 students from Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, GM Government High School, Eastern Mission High School, college students and guests attended the seminar

Earlier, Wekhrode Wezah, General Secretary, CSU chaired the programme while Dezo Naro, Education Secretary CSU moderated the sessions. Neipe Puro and Tewe-u Mero invoked God’s blessings. Ezhowe-u Mekrisuh and friends presented a special number.

Concluding remarks were given by Lhipe Naro, Assistant Prof. & Head, Dept. of Sociology, DGC Dimapur & General Secretary, COU.
 
‘…be happy doers and not hoppers’
Exhorting the students, Rukewelo T Mero, Senior Superintendent of Police and President, COU, encouraged the students to study and excel, be “happy doers and not hoppers.”

One of the secrets of success is to speak your goal out loud, act and consistently strive to achieve the goal. We will get what we deserve and therefore we must live a fulfilled life, Mero added.

Shiluti Tsühah, Assistants Programmer, Election Department, shared his journey of clearing the Nagaland Public Selection Commission examination 2022 and encouraged the students to believe in themselves, work hard, learn from mistakes and grow stronger, persevere and be disciplined to achieve the goal.

CSU President Khrolhiweu Tsühah stated that “empowering students and making informed decisions about education, career and developing strategies to achieve academic and career goals is significant in this digital age.”

She said that therefore, the programme aims to orient and motivate the students, enhance their knowledge, explore, guide and help identify their potential career paths in alignment with their interests, values, skills and educational choices.
