CSU holds Naga wrestling championship

Pfutsero, August 28 (MExN): The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) organised Naga Style Wrestling Championship at Baptist Theological College on August 26 with Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) president Neivikuolie Khatsü as the special guest and; NSF president Kesosul Christopher Ltu, and Chakhesang Public Organization president Kekhwengulo Lea as the special invitee and valedictory guest, respectively. This was done in pursuit of the resolution adopted at the 3rd CSU Union Assembly to promote Naga Style Wrestling as a compulsory event in all the educational institutions under its jurisdiction, stated a press release. The championship was organized with three competitive categories - ‘A’ College, ‘B’ Higher Secondary and ‘C’ High School with a total of 105 competitors. There were 12 competitors in the college category, 21 in the Higher Secondary category and 72 in the High School category. Küchohü Cürha from Kohima College emerged champion in the college category, Puto Sakhamo from GHSS, Pfutsero triumphed in the Higher Secondary category and in the High School Category, Cühüyi Chüzho won. The Championship was managed by the NWA Referee Board, while Hüvesü Puro and Surhoneyi Soho officiated as referees. Five wrestlers, Surhoneyi Soho, Vechita Khesoh, Venuzo Dawhuo, Visevo Zhashümo, Menuosetuo Yiese, who will represent India at the 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Art Games 2017 from 17-23 September 2017 in Ashgabat Turkmenistan.
