PHEK, MAY 17 (MExN): The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) on Friday revealed findings that multiple government schools under Phek district were in deplorable conditions and almost every school had issue of teacher shortage besides infrastructural needs.
The findings were made during its first phase education tour conducted in the consecutive months of April and May covering 77 government institutions under DEO Phek (SDEOs of Chozuba, Pfutsero, Phek).
The survey found an alarming lack of adequate instructor at several schools, particularly in core subjects like Math, Science, English etc at Middle and High Schools, the CSU informed in a press release. It assessed that at least 20 additional teachers would be required to properly staff these schools in question.
Highlighting on schools lacking even basic infrastructure, the CSU said schools including Khussokhuno, Dzulhami, Rukizu, Khuza, Phusachodu require new buildings, classroom, staff rooms and kitchen to create an environment conducive to learning.
Towards this, the CSU has appealed the concerned authority to rationalise teachers and take necessary step as per the grievances so that quality education is provided to the students. Failure to this appeal, the CSU said it would be compelled to resort to democratic ways and means to achieve justice.
The CSU shall not remain a silent spectator when the students are denied of quality education, the press release read.
