To start symbolic protest beginning May 17
PHEK, May 16 (MExN): The Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU) announced the suspension of its second phase of agitation against the prolonged delay in the construction of the NH-29 Kohima-Jessami Road (Package-2).
The CSU started the agitation to register resentment over alleged “non-compliance with the union’s demand” by the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the firm contracted for the project— M/S Ratna Infrastructure Projects.
The agitation was suspended on May 16. It however informed that the CSU will continue protesting symbolically in the form of displaying black flags “against the ongoing negligence and inaction of both the NHIDCL and the EPC contractor.” This, it said, will be the third phase of the agitation, which will take effect on May 17.
During the second phase of the agitation, vehicles belonging to the NHIDCL and the firm, and also non-essential government vehicles were disallowed from plying.
The CSU stated that it will continue its agitation until its demands for transparency, accountability, and timely completion of the project is met, reiterating its stance, “No Compromise. No Delay… or Agitation Continues.”
