CTAN for retaining existing Engineering Service Rule

Kohima, October 25 (MExN): The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) today stated that the existing Engineering Service Rule 7, 2012 (Group A&B) Section 6 must be retained as it is and called the demands for changing the same illogical.

As per the association, the Section 6 provided that 60% of post of SDO/Assistant Engineer/Assistant Architect “should be filled through NPSC (Nagaland Public Service Commission) and 40% through promotions from lower grade.

In this connection, the CTAN appealed the concerned authority not to “accept and entertain” the representations submitted by the Power Department Junior Engineer’s Service Association (PDJESA) and all Nagaland Junior Engineer’s Association (ANJEA) on February 2 and June 8 respectively.

As per the CTAN, the representations, submitted to the Principal Secretary, Department Of Power and State’s Chief Secretary, called for 70% through promotion and 30% through NPSC.

The demands are ‘illogical’ keeping in mind the number of engineering graduates passing out from different universities each year, asserted the association in a press release.

“At present there are 5200 plus registered qualified engineers seeking to sit for exams,” it pointed out.

Accordingly, the CTAN requested the concerned authority to take “wise decision and not to entertain any such selfish demands, keeping the interest and welfare of the educated Engineers.”

If such sensitive issues are pursued and hampers the bright future of Nagaland engineers in any way, the CTAN will go to “any extend in delivering justice to the deserving candidates,” it added.
