The 42nd annual games & sports meet of Chetheba Town Youth Organization (CTYO) got underway today at Chetheba under Phek district.
Gracing the opening ceremony, Rukuzo Khamo, Secretary, Central Executive Board of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) called upon the sports persons to give their utmost effort to become a renowned sportsperson at the global level.
The key to become popular sportspersons lies on the volume of struggle and consistency, he said and called upon the youth to take up sports with seriousness.
We can do when we struggle, he said.
Khamo also called upon the youth to take advantage of the various sports packages being extended by the present state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
He lauded the excellent performance of Nagaland’s team at the recently concluded 2nd North East Olympic Games 2022, adding that Nagaland will be hosting the next North East Olympic Games.
Khamo also called upon the youth to come forward and avail the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance initiative.
The objective of the scheme is to increase farmer’s income, encourage self-employment and entrepreneurship development, inculcate a sense of credit disciple, boost private enterprise and improve the agri-marketing network and infrastructure in the state.
The State Level Banker’s committee is considering the opening of the much needed SBI Branch at Chetheba, he said adding that the process is likely to be completed in January 2023.
He also urged the people to avail Chief Minister Health Insurance scheme, which is a free and cashless treatment for various ailments to all citizens of the state.
The scheme is implemented in convergence with Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, AB PM-JAY.
Also touching on Local Area Development Fund (LADF), Khamo stressed on the need to wisely utilize the same.
No room be allowed to divert the fund, he said adding that it should be used for the specific earmarked projects.
Sharing greetings, Chokri Area Games & Sports Association (CAGSA) president Zavepra Puro maintained that there is no dearth of talents among the Naga youth in the field of sports.
What we need today is consistency, dedication and discipline to excel, he said.
He also called upon the youth to give priority upon the sports discipline they are good at.
Earlier, CTYO president Thepukhoyi Swuro delivered presidential address while the inaugural function was led by Kehuye Keyho.
CTYO assistant games & sports secretary Merito Nyekha administered oath to the participating teams.
Meanwhile, Motahii Rokha, head GB Chetheba Town will grace the closing ceremony as the guest of honour on December 17.
